How to buy stuff.

So I see an add here.
Is there a custom ...
Send money and wait for item or receive item and send money.

If I was selling I would want the money and then send but if buying I would want the item then send the money.

Contact, pay, receive.

Got to trust each other. Use your intuition - like buy from high-post count people, people who talk a lot etc.

Selling: wait for payment then post it, unless you know your buyer, then I usually post and they send payment on the same day.

Buying: I only buy from people I trust to describe the item honestly if the price is a three figure or bigger. Cheaper stuff, I take a chance. Only been bitten twice here on Ice.

Wherever possible, and especially with scopes, I travel to collect in person..

I must admit that I am sometimes a bit miffed when people who know me are not prepared to post until my payment clears when the item is a cheap one..... I am hardly going to rip off someone for a few $$....

Selling to Good friends: If they indicate they want the item I will deliver or post and they will pay me when they can, as long as I have some food in the cupboard I am happy to wait a while...

Hi Lewis
Thank you for saying you trust me.
Is the ZWO any good I thought the Loadstar was the best choice.
In any event if you do decide to sell I will research your unit.
Why do you want to sell it?

I'd reiterate what has already been mentioned.

As for the Lodestar, I'd say that MIGHT be better in an OAG but the ASI120 would be better in a guide scope. The ASI as half the price but is still a very nice guide camera.

For the price of the Lodestar you could buy an MGEN II stand alone Autoguider which is easy to use and very effective. At the time of ordering you can get a couple of accessories to go with the handset and camera:
1. an adapter to mount the camera on a standard 8x50 or 9x50 finderscope (note there are 2 different adapters)
2. A shutter cable for your DSLR which allows the MGEN hand control to program a series of exposures.

As a raw beginner I got this setup guiding on my first night out.

I am intimidated by the prospect because I am not that smart and not good with computers.
Also I my mount is rather old now as it was one of the first eq6.
I will get it out and seek more advice when I return to Sydney.

Or for the price I am asking for my ASI, you can buy 3 of them and be cheaper than the Lacerta or Lodestar

I like both propositions.
However I need to figure if my mount is modern enough basically...
The stand alone sounds great as does the ZWO.

I really appreciate everyone's input.
Being up here this past week has rekindled my interest..just sitting under dark skies I find so uplifting...and.only having binnnos available took me back to enjoying the wonder of it all.

And trying to bring myself up-to-date with what is available has been most cool...I realise how primitive my earlier efforts really were...

Maybe I should stick to wide fields..
I.found this on photo bucket I thought it would have gone by now...300d manual or no guiding an hour I think maybe more.

I don't think I used dark frames certainly processing would have been primitive.

Most of my work was lost when the neighbours cat threw up on my lap top years ago. The one and only night I let it in and the only time I ever left the lap top open.
And I did not get angry ..my.fault.

I checked my purchase of the MGEN last year and it was 75 Euros cheaper than TS current price. The way exchange rates have moved it can be better to buy from the UK, depending on the product. 365astronomy (reliable) has it a bit cheaper and their shipping is cheaper than TS, still a lot of money though.

A very kind and generous member has offered me a gift of a suitable camera which I greatly appreciate as it will get me started and somewhat put pressure upon me to get it together.

As a side note ... Over the last week I have been googling to find information on many things and it is usually a reference to an iceinspace thread ( often more than one) that appears.

This site really is first class.
