How do I figure FOV for my camera?

Hi All,

I have a Nikon D40 Digital SLR and I want to know how I can claculate FOV for any given telescope I might want to attach it to. Any method available to do this?

thanks

Richard

CCD Calculator:

http://www.newastro.com/newastro/boo...camera_app.asp

You'll need to know your pixel size and max resolution, as that camera isn't in its database. 7.9x7.8 micron (roughly), 3008x2000 pixels.

As citivolus says the Astrocalculator is the way to go. I would be lost without it.

or you can use this forumula

width of FOV= w/F x 3438 arcmin

where w = the width of your chip in mm, F = the focal length of you scope in millimeters

height of FOV = h/F X3438 arcmin

where h= height of chip im mm.
