seems like a fair few people have done this one but here is my attempt using my unmodified nikon d90 there is only 80 mins of total exposure only did 9 30 sec exposures i think i used Ken Charlwood's orion telescope thanks for having a look feel free to play around with the image as I am really unsure about the color thanks
Thanks guys, I've never had a problem with my D90 at night has really low noise at iso400 even for 10 min exposures there is a little bit but a few darks and that soon disappears the only thing i dont like is the IR blocking filter all the nebula ive imaged turn out purple I would get it modified but I use the camera more for normal photography
Hi Daine that tuned out very well, plenty of detail considering how hot that night was. Longer exposures on a winter night should be awesome.
Clear skies Ken.
For a first attempt at a really tough target your image totally rocks Daine! The stars are impressively sharp and your processing is excellent.
You clearly know your stuff since you used a mix of exposure times to get the core and the nebulosity and you haven't clipped the background to try and make it look black. Most excellent!
Thanks Cam but to be truthful I really have no idea what I'm doing both with processing and with imaging haha i just followed Ken's advice and this it what followed
