In the last few months of Foxtel, David Tennant has been the lead character in a British political drama on BBC First, and the lead detective character in an American series (I think) on Universal channel.

I am surprised no one has posted up since Sunday. I would have to call this weeks the best yet for the season, they finally seem to have made it click.

Here is hoping it stays that way.

I have to admit - until now, I've never read or seen a legitimate SF story involving a two dimensional universe ( though there were spoofs on Futurama and The Simpsons).

That was an impressive piece of SF writing.

There was Robert Forward's novel "Dragon's Egg" that featured effectively two-dimensional creatures (living on the surface of a neutron star with a surface gravity 67 billion times that of Earth).

From ST:TNG "The Loss" (84th episode) the USS Enterprise becomes trapped within a field of two-dimensional lifeforms, while Counselor Troi struggles with the sudden unexpected loss of her telepathic abilities

Yep, was awesome! Best ep yet with the new guy and brings a glimmer of hope that the Dr's not done yet. Let's hope its the start of many more good ones in the series

The primary storyline on "The Loss" involving Troi was so pedestrian that I'd forgotten about the secondard 2D arc!

Oh - it was a Counseller Troi episode (nearly as bad as a Wesley Crusher episode)

I loved the last episode.
I don't think we've had Mummy's on Dr Who before.

Poor Peter Capaldi, he's had some crap storylines so far hasn't he. He needs a new companion, someone to match his style/age/personality.
I'm not overly fond of Clara, we know her story so it's time for her to move on. She can go marry the Squaddie and live happily ever after.
Dr Donna, now there was a companion with character!! Someone like her would be ideal. Strong, intelligent, witty.

Iam still getting used to the new Dr he is a bit different to what we have had in the last two Doctors ,stories seem to be getting better as for clara isay bring back K9

Agree 100% there, the actor is good, the new doctor's persona is interesting but most of the scripts so far have been poor or put to much focus on Clara. I have liked 2 or 3 shows, disliked the same number and am ho-hum for the rest. Not great, not bad. Could do better. I think Moffat is pat his sell by date.

I like the idea of Dr Who, but I'm finding it more difficult to "suspend disbelief" when it's basically just magic everywhere. This week's episode was just cringe-worthy with the use of magic trees everywhere, annoying kids and dumb companion issues.

I started watching it last night after my wife went to bed, but I was so enthralled by the trees that I fell asleep 10 minutes into it. I'll make another attempt tonight.
