Mars and Saturn June 29th, surprising seeing

I didn't hold out that much hope for this set, with the jetstream nearby, but Skippy Sky was suggesting 7-8 on the seeing scale, so I set up, and was pleasantly surprised by pretty excellent conditions! Happy to get Encke again and more polar hexagon hints, and some clouds on the northern polar regions of Mars.

Slightly different methods with Firecapture let me stack ~5000 frames for each of them (5min for Mars, 10min for Saturn), 200mm f/5 Newtonian at f/30, ASI185MC, preprocessing in PIPP, stacked and wavelets in Registax, final adjustments PS2.

The seeing has been a surprise lately and will be good beginning of July possibly. Saturn seems tougher this year somehow so you managed a decent result.

John.

Well done with both Andy, reckon regardless of the predictions, if the cloud has cleared it is worth having a crack at it. You just never know.

Cheers
Trevor
