Any chance you could focus with another filter with similar focus then switch?
Not really. It might be close but not spot on. The focal point isn’t just dependant on the filter thickness but also the way the different wavelengths of light travel through your telescope. This is what causes chromatic aberration.
Unfortunately its a case of picking one of the bright stars and using the finder on the camera,i even use the moon. Also it's a 17 year old canon 300D, no live view of rotatable LED panel. i have to take 5-10 second shots with a bahtinov mask on and look at them, then change focus a tiny bit and re shoot, it can take blooming ages and involve rolling around on the concrete at 2 am....not fun
The only thing I can think of right this minute, if you are not already doing it,
is to set your ISO to its max [1600?] to shorten your focusing shots a bit.
You can get a model with Liveview body only for less than $200 on ebay,
save you a lot of grief if you can run to it. For a few $ more you can get one
with the articulated screen, which incidentally will be a lot bigger than your screen.
