More experimentation with ISO 6400 with 1600 for blending.
It's quite tricky to tame the blown stars, I was partially successful.
ISO 6400 really gives vibrant colours!
I've also supplied the original stacked 6400 image from DSS to show the level of burn out with stars and core.
8" F/4 astrograph HEQ pro 5 mount. Orion mini guider.
Unmodded canon 1100D, baader type III coma corrector.
20 x 2 minute subs ISO 6400 and 5 x 2 minute 6 x 30 sec ISO 1600. Stacked in DSS, processed in PS Cs2.
Wow, 2 minute subs at ISO 6400... You must really have dark skies?! My subs would fog in 20 seconds at that setting using the same scope. Where is your histogram for the individual 2min ISO1600 subs?
Cool to compare the before and after (gotta love processing) - some great colours, between us we should be able to resurrect a renaissance of colour in astro images

Yep, I have dark skies, except for light glow from Adelaide directly to the South.
On a good night the glow is up 10 to 15 degree's.

I guess there's a lot of different views on this forum regards vivid colours versus natural.
There's no doubt that stronger colour highlights and draws the eye. Certainly that's what I find.
I'd love to see some more colour saturation in images.

Awesome work justin, can't believe you're getting such good results at iso 6400! I'm guessing you had it cooled?
can you do a batch conversion in DPP? I thought you could only alter individually

Yep, does batch convert.
Just need to select images you want converted by clicking on the first image hold the shift key down and select the last image, this will highlight all the images to be converted.
Or you can use the Ctrl to select individually.
Then just click on the batch convert icon and select the format you want and file to save in.
Nice one. I am trying my first mosaic in that area. My first pic for that mosaic is almost exactly the same as yours I just wish I could figure out this processing. Going painfully slow right now.
