One week to go to the new moon

It's just one week now to the next trip out to Bretti. Thankfully the weather improved around my place last night and the night was clear - hopefully an indicator for next weekend as well. While the offical weather forecast looks pretty wet till Wednesday, at least on the coast, let's get it out of the way now and make way for clear skies for the end of the week. Fingers crossed, enough of this unsettled weather.

Start knocking on wood, everyone!

Tonight's forecast for the Barrington Tops looks like it will be clearer than the Central Coast will.

With a bit of luck, hopefully it will translate across the whole week. If the weather stays coastal, Bretti might be a little oasis of clear skies!

Looks like Murphy's Law has come in the equation for me this weekend. I have urgent unexpected Nursing Home work to complete by next Monday, so I will be unable to go this time.
I hope you all have a great time and clear skies.

Geoffro.

Well Geoff the weather is certainly not being helpful, and Friday night at Bretti is looking very doubtful anyway, however, looking at the 4-day charts it appears that by Saturday night it will be clear. This may mean that Sunday -Tuesday might be good seeing at Bretti. Stay tuned.
Hope you might be available those days, I think John and Allan and myself could be. We'll keep trying to get some clear dark skies soon.

Re the next possibility, giving the IIS camp priority, there is the April New Moon period which is actually after the ISS camp, and total nighttime darkness over the period from the 26th-30th of April. It is very feasible that IIS camp attendees might be able to roll over to Bretti when the IIS event closes on the 27th - free time permitting of course. People not planning on going to the IIS camp might find the 26th onward at Bretti a good option.

Watching the weather with anticipation.
YES. Timing Flexible.

Just for fun ... checked 7Timer Bretti weather for Friday night, = clear and cloudless, with rain and thunder storms.!!!

Better plan, check out the window.

LOL, I said once before it would be easier to understand a chooks feet dipped in paint then have it dance on some A4 paper, instead of trying to understand 7 timer.... but that's just me....

I've been watching the radar and charts and its obvious that there is still some light rain or showers up that way. It is 'suppose' to ease off this afternoon and clear this evening in the Hunter region. I still have hopes for Monday but we'll have to wait and see.

There Be Stars!!!!

I was awake in the early hours of today and happened to look outside (as you do) and was amazed to see a sky full of stars! Completely clear to the zenith, west, and south with just the remants of wispy altostatus to the east and northeast. So there is hope for Bretti. Wish there was a sky cam out there.

Too much work

I am disappointed that I will miss out on Bretti this month. Work has become busy with urgent jobs. There is no way I can get away during the week. I hope all who go up to Bretti, have clear skies for a change.

My heart is telling me to give it a go, but my head is telling me its not worth it.
I may procrastinate a little longer, ... but then again ...

I phoned Gloucester and it was clear there last night, so I am going to head up there and see for myself. There's been fog up there as well which indicates a clear night. Looking at the weather it gets better as the week progresses so should definitely get some observing done sometime in the nights ahead. Not sure how long I will be there for, but probably Wednesday, unless things are going much better or much worse than I plan.

Look forward to catching everyone over the days ahead. Cheers

Allan keep us posted if you can though I realise there is no phone signal at Bretti.

Allan_L ....I share your sentiments. I will make my decision Monday morning.

Also weather does not look good for pony club tonight.

Guys, I am at Gloucester now, so posting before I lose contact. Lots of blue sky here and very high cloud base, so looks promising.

Posted to encourage you all to give it a go. Cheers again.

I loaded up the camper this morning then it clouded over here. The forecast doesn't look very positive but an onsite report is the best kind and Alan's sounds good.
