Identified as a cometary globule, this dark nebula in Scorpius makes for an interesting deep sky target. Located about 5,000 light years from Earth, I like to think that the photons of light captured by my camera have spent all that time travelling through space just to be finally captured by my camera sensor
. Whilst it does seem to be a well imaged object, the only catalogue reference that I could find was a listing in the "Atlas of Galactic Nebula" as entry GN 16.43.7.01. I couldn't find any reference of it with the 'usual' CG numbers for cometary globules. If others have additional information in this regard I would be happy to hear about it.
This data set was captured in May last year which shows how far behind I have been on my processing activities. This brings me almost up to date now with one more data set in the queue ready and waiting
. This data set has been captured with my TSA120/QSI683 CCD combination and is comprised of approximately 21 hours of data with LRGB and Ha filters.

Not for the want of other imaging related projects of course as many other data sets have been captured, and processed, in the mean time. I only have one set of data now in my processing queue so shall be getting into that shortly
