Moon occults Antares tonight - Reminder

Hi all

Don't forget the Moon occults Antares (a Scorpii) tonight.

Good opportunity for those who have not seen Antare's companion to do so when it emerges from the dark limb.

Bit low (15 degrees altitude) for us here John when that takes place.

The atmospheric disturbance will have a great effect on seeing the companion, but I'll still have a look

Might even try and capture an AVI or 2 with the ToUcam and/or DMK

They will have to be quick avi Matt. I think it is about 7 sec between appearance of the companion and then Antares

A couple of days ago someone posted a link to a map of the moon and the exit point of Antares. Unfortunately I can't seem to find it now. Does anyone, by chance have a copy of it or the link.

Im off to capture a few AVI's - I agree that it is a bit low and will prove a challenge, but will give it a go!

I cannot see to locate the companion in "Starry Night"?

moon doesn't rise for 2 hour or so yet LOL. Still deciding what scope to use,, 8" f6 or 80mm F7.5 or 80mm f5.6... decisions decisions

I think I'll just go set up the 20x80's on my EQ5 lol not the best but it will
be low any ways.

Oh! dany I'll drag out the 8" wif the 14 XW in it. I love looking at the moon
phases with that EP.

Clear as here, except on the coast to the east : ( but hopefully should still
be able to nab it.

the rain stopped me, I have the scope setup in my room up the back, given the low horizon event and the showers I have opened and closed the door several times. Unfortunately I missed the entire event. on the high side we had 8mm rain in that 1.5 hours

That was flipping fantastic!!
The little one popped out of the dark, and before you could say, "Is that it?" Antares barges out and steals the show.
Brilliant.
I can't wait to see what you imagers captured.
I didn't want to miss seeing it so the only pictures I took were after the event.

Unfortunately ended up being 8/8 Octas of cloud and rain here on the South Coast, bummer
