Apollo 11 Command Mod. Hatch

I nabbed a couple of shots of the Apollo 11 Command Module Hatch while at the Smithsonian in DC.
The hatch could be opened outward, in just 5 seconds, by pumping the handle to activate a pressurized nitrogen cylinder.
Apollo 1 had two hatches, that took 90 seconds to open. No good if the pure oxygen you're breathing catches fire. A friend of mine was granted access to the audio recording from that day in '67, recorded inside the Apollo 1 capsule. so so tragic.

I need to return to the US
I've visited KSC but only a day. definitely need another day or 2 there. Smithsonian is on my bucket list as is a damn launch. I missed seeing a shuttle launch due to hail damage. So the SLS is due for maiden in 2 years.

This year I snapped a piccie of pro model maker Nick Proach, posing with Fred Haise, beside one of his models.
Had a buddy who bought along an empty suit case that went home full of his smaller models.

I've got my eye on this one in particular. Considering that Buzz now charges $650 to scrawl his signature on an item, this is a real bargain.

Proach models nice but expensive. Resin parts are nice for increase detail but rather build myself
