Mars Projection 2016

SPX350 F41.3, PGRFlea3, BaaderRGB filters.

I managed to get the full rotation of Mars over May and June and have put together a projection using map computation in WJupos.

I put together a WJupos video of the rotation in Flickr.

Amazing work John!

Superb animation - such even illumination - does wjupos do that?

Regards,
Tony.

Stunning video! Given the spotty weather we've had this year, that's a major achievement.

Jaw dropping work John.

If I may ask...
How many compositions of Mars did you have to capture to compile this great image and subsequent globe detail?

Regards.

John.

Thanks for comments everyone.

Luckily John I got about 10 images from the middle of May to middle of June (one full rotation either side of opposition). If weather had been cloudy, a washout or bad seeing during this period I would not have any decent material so I usually don't build my hopes up - I just got lucky this year. WinJupos is brilliant!

Regards, John.
