Naked eye from the place in the sticks so gave this a go this weekend

The most bizarre imaging sessions though. The CCD was running at minus 25 on Friday then it was really pushing it to keep it to Minus 15 last night. I had to drop to Minus 10 for the flats.

That caused a few issues with darks so there are some artefacts I need to deal with once I do some more darks at Minus 15...

Usually you see this wide field with Tuc47 et al but the STL6303e doesn't quite get me there with the FSQ so framing could have been better.

That looks great David. Got the colors spot on. I thought it would have fit in the FOV of the FSQ.

Thanks but for the record I didn’t do any noise reduction at all? Dither and it’s a high signal anyway.

Aah..on the full res it looks like compression artifacts. Didn’t resample, just saved it down as a jpeg..likely to be the cause?

Looks really good David, lots of stars, you don't see many images from 6303 based cameras, so its a pleasant surprise.

Do what the Strongman does, if you are dithering, don't worry about darks.

EDIT: Its a bit bigger than APS-C more like APS-H, 27.6 x 18.4mm

That might be OK on a low dark noise Sony sensor, but I think you'll find that darks are useful on a KAF sensor.

I found that darks were needed with my QHY9 (KAF-8300), not needed for my QHY22 (ICX-694) and DEFINITELY needed for my ASI1600/QHY163. Dithering helps with hot/cold pixels but it doesn’t help fix dark current nor amp glow.
