HEQ5 pro

OK so there is the Rowan Astronomy belt upgrade for this mount.

Does anyone else sell like an upgrade worm to improve PE?

Or some other service?

Greg.

I was in Bintel today as well around midday ordering my new rig, 8” f5 newt on a EQ6-R Mount plus other stuff for my 12” dob
Yes I saw the HEQ5 with the refractor on it too but again the mount by itself is manageable in my opinion
Cheers

Greg,
I think you’re getting ahead of yourself.
You may find the standard HEQ5pro meets your needs without any mods or improvements.....

Thanks for that. That may well be the case but a belt mod does not sound that expensive nor hard to do so I would likely do that anyway.

A bit late to the discussion, but I thought it won't hurt sharing my experiences with HEQ5.

I had it for a year or two when I was starting off with imaging, and later upgraded to AZEQ6. A good, affordable and easy to set up mount and my experience with it was positive, so much that recently I have been considering getting another one just for visual astronomy, but I would be putting it on my Berlebach tripod. I used the mount with a 6" F/8 Newtonian and a 4" doublet. Tracked well with both scopes. Fit and finish is...good enough for the the mount to do its job.

Here is one of my images taken with HEQ5 some years ago:
