Uploading a set of dark frames the other night, a gradual increase in sensor temperature was quite evident. Frames getting lighter with each shot then stabilized after 18 frames.
Is this normal with 5D MKII's? Never seen this with the 1000D. Perhaps its time for a Peltier cooler.
I don't see anything strange with that, the longer you work the camera the more it will heat up.
Can you post some examples of the darks getting lighter?
That's normal. I noticed it on my Astrofest star trails subs. First few frames had low noise, then as the subs went on, sensor warming up, the noise got more and more evident.
One thing I do to minimise noise is to use a Canon 240v battery adapter (if you can), this will minimise the heat buildup from using an internal battery.
Also I leave a gap of around 20-30 sec between frames to allow sensor cooldown.
Thanks. I understand that it is normal for the sensor to heat up over time. It was something that I never 'saw' with the 1000D. Guess I'm just making sure that I'm not looking at a potential problem with the camera. Thanks muchly.
