Some more images of Jove from Opposition

Some images taken this morning from a quite balmy night in Melbourne. Temperature was around 24 degrees at 1:30am when I was taking these images.

There are 3 images: IR 685; L(IR)RGB and L(IR)R(IR)GB so there are some colour balance elements that are different to the normal RGB images - BUT, at only 36 degrees, the only way to get any detail is with the IR filter which in my case at IR 685 really is a deep red filter.

Lots of stuff going on in Jove. Distinct ring inside GRS; stuff training GRS; some material near BA Oval and as always lots of feastoon activity in the Equatorial Zone.

The weather has turned in Melbourne and I think we are in for a bout of poor astronomical weather - but it is Melbourne!

Clear skies,

John K.

Awesome shots showing the GRS. I shall have to have another go at observing tonight and see how far I can stretch my little travel scope to get some detail on Jupiter. Its clear as a bell in South Western Qld ATM.
