Help with EQ8

Hello,
I would appreciate if someone could help me out in deciding the best option for attaching my oldLXD Newt to an EQ8 Mount.

My Newt has a standard Dovetail same as this one from Bintel that attaches to the Rings

The easiest way is buying this from Bintel.

That way you can keep the vixen bar as you have it. Better and cheaper is to attach the rings to a wide Losmandy bar but you loose the adjustable screws…if you use them that is.

I'd go the Losmandy wide bar myself.

Hi Michael,
Is it a 8" or 10" newt? I am refurbishing a LXD 10" SN tube ATM and have changed to a D bar from the standard V bar.
A D bar will allow better torsional rigidity, but I really wanted two mounting holes at the bottom of each ring to minimise movement. So far, I have not had much luck getting rigid 10" rings with 2 mounting holes, so I have secured original rings on to a 40cm long D bar.
I am still refurbishing the scope, but hope the final result will be within my EQ6 payload limit.
Will post some photos once the refurbishment is done.
Bo
