Around The Pondage

A series of nightscapes I took before the moon rose last week in Mt Beauty. I really wanted to capture the Sagittarius region higher in the sky but moon light would have washed it out. These scenes were all shot near or at the pondage dam close to the Mt Beauty village. Park lights illuminate the green grass amongst some of the deciduous trees in the picnic grounds. The nights were unusually warm for this time of year in the Alpine region. I stood by the Fujifilm XT-100 camera wearing nothing but shorts, T-shirt and thongs. All shots taken with a 15-45mm Fujinon lens @ 15mm, f3.5 - f5.6, 30 - 60 secs, 3200iso.

Excellent stuff Mick. I really love the contrast between the dark sky and illuminated ground.

Best

Very nicely done indeed!
I was out trying to do something similar a few nights ago, but was way too close to the city to get anything worthwhile.
My compliments!

Thanks for the compliments Warren. Yes it's a tough call trying to extract Milkyway detail from a washed out light polluted sky.
