M83 Southern Pinwheel

It's been a few weeks and finally we are getting some clear skies.

M83 might be a bit small for the 85mm but we have to try these things.

67 of 240s subs. Gain 100.

I haven't bothered to do masking, just basic processing.

All good fun

Nice and sharp and you've picked up a few faint background galaxy's as well. Colour is a bit on the brownish side? other than that looking good.

That is a great capture Peter and I am happy to hear you were able to enjoy reasonable seeing.
I am surprised the 80 mm "class" manage anything at all in the galaxy department.
And I find you image encouraging and something I will aim for...Your effort shows me just how good you can get with an 80 mm.

Also probably your image makes a powerful case to go narrow band.

That is just so good Peter.
Did you read my thread about cropping first in Deep Sky Stacker?
Di you have any thoughts on such an approach for situation like m83 being imaged with a short focal length small app scope.
I completed a "crop stack" which seems better but I think I may be imaging things.

That's a great shot Peter. I like the colour balance in the second version. It makes me embarrassed at the red/purple version I posted last week. Too much processing on my part!
