Newbee from Brisbane

Hi
Just letting you know I am still around.
Went to the Mt Cootha public viewing on Saturday night, and then to the film at the planetarium narrated by Harrison Ford (excellent!!!)
Had a few good nights with the binoculars and getting used to finding Orion, and Sirius, and am starting to work my way around the night sky map, at least it is making a bit more sense....
so just thought i would let you know i am still here, and still looking upwards.

That's good to hear (i mean read)! Thanks for the post.

I have to pay a visit to the new supposedly super-hi-tech Melbourne Planetarium one of these days... (I think they have the same program running that you're talking about).

Hi jmb - good to see it's all starting to make some sense!

The film you saw is "The Search for Life: Are We Alone?". Narrated by Harrison Ford. I saw this at the Melbourne planetarium a few weeks ago. It blew me away!

I definitely recommend it for anyone interested in astronomy.

Hi JMB, why not come along to a monthly night we hold at AstroRons on the sunshine coast, always a good turnout of people and scopes (given the weather) including a few from Brisbane, they usually stay the night. The next one is on December 3rd so let me know if your interested and I can give you more details.

Hi Tony, yes it is official but I will get Ron to post it on the start party section, not sure about how many can stay, if you provide your own tent or car then as many as you want I think. I drive home as I am only 45 minutes away. Love to see you there though.
