Dimensions of SCT Meade Giant Field Tripod

Hi everyone,

I'm seeking the equivalent dimension (as shown in the photo) of the Meade SCT giant field tripod? And can I please also ask, at what size 'scope is the giant field tripod supplied/used? ie is it 10" and larger, 12" and larger etc?

Photo is of my 8" LX90, as measured at its lowest height setting (ie with lower leg section fully retracted), and with the tripod legs set at their widest. My standard tripod as shown in the photo measures at 900mm.

I ask this because the house I'm about to move to has some narrow-ish gates and before purchasing a larger SCT (and tripod trolley), I'd like to get an idea of what size tripod I'd be dealing with.

My future purchase would be second-hand, non ACF -either an LX90 or LX200.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards, Dean

you would be looking at 110cm between centres or 120cm for clearance - what i just measured

and it is a meade giant field tripod

Dean,
I used the giant tripod plus wedge for the 12" LX200 for many years.
I did reduce the leg length by 200mm as per the MAPUG site.
Worked well for me.

Hi Dean

I use mine with a C14. At its lowest height setting the distance between the legs is 93cm.

Regards Mark

A belated thanks to you all -I've just completed the move into said new house, and once settled will start to measure up gate clearances. I'll be sure to ask about the dimensions of the tripod before purchasing! Regards, Dean.
