Venus transit 06062012 from sunny Nyngan + video

I traveled to Nyngan to see the transit as Newcastle was not a good site due to the weather. Mike Sidonio Joined me and Brad Le Brocque drove up as well. I did miss my viewing buddy Alan Meehan, I really wished you were there Al!

I have a poultry 159gig of data to sift through but somewhere in there there must be something useable

the seeing was horrible, the mount - well thats another story. the location - inspiring - it would have seen the transit last century - the Company - priceless

I have a few samples just to get something up.

we set up in the dark and we just got to see in the begining by literally seconds as we set up behind a shed where we thought we would have more clearance. there is a whole story for this journey........but that is for later

EDIT: "well here is the trip from Newcastle"

Hi Dave

Well, what an adventure, but you guys certainly returned with a lot (159GB) of booty! A great transit series as well as humorous location shots. So pleased that you managed to view and record this event.

Cheers

Dennis

Mike was a huge part in the making of the event - he is a very very gooood astronomer. He can not only put toghther tv's but lift entire mounts and move the earth - i am sure he was doing that when the sun came up and the shed was really going to be a problem. i even heard his singing the lumberjack song when the sun was nearing the tree..........

Thanks Gary - i really hope it will pay off - but i must be realistic. My blocking filter was flawed and will be replaced under warranty, it produced some views but it should have been crisper and without the crud. I made the most of it I am certainly not in the class of Mike, Peter, Paul et al as a quality imager - I see myself as the Aldi or GO LO version something cheap and nasty but does the trick

I have done a very rough animation - have really yet to process and tart it up but while the moment is here....its rough, not well produced and shows where we skimmed a tree

i might add it shows the transit from start to finish
