Question Intro -> Anyone got any 2nd hand gear or recommendations for us ???

G'Day Guys

We are newbies who live in the Barossa Valley & I'm looking for a " Begineers Package " for my 8YO Boy - Who BTW is looking to build a time machine & wants to 'select' a star system to visit 1st <- everyone needs a hobby right

As I have almost 40 years experience with hardware & software I would prefer a telescope to PC / Linux interface so I can process the images RAW from the scope with ??? software.

Anyone got any 2nd hand gear or recommendations for us ???

TIA

NG

The first question would be, what is your budget?

Mount wise it sounds like you'd want a HEQ5 Pro, that will allow you to control it from a laptop or hand controller depending on what path you want.

Check out the for sale area of this website, plenty of stuff to do what you want, ranging from bits & pieces to complete setups. On the software front Linux is not the smartest choice as the decent scope drivers and imaging software are written for Windows or OS X.

BTW you can point out to your son the scope is a time machine, looking back into the past...
