NGC 5101 and its buddy

An attempt at this galaxy pair from a dark sky (albeit windy and with passing clouds) site in the southern Flinders ranges here in South Australia.

NGC 5101 and NGC 5078. About 7 hours of data (55:13:10:10 LRGB all at 5 mins) with an ASI1600MM-C and RC8 on an EQ6 with focal reducer down to 1200mm.

They form a nice contrasting pair of galaxies and this area seems especially rich in background galaxies.

Higher res available on Astrobin here.

Comments welcome.

Paul

Hi Paul,

Excellent photo of a whole bunch of galaxies!
A great piece of sky that I'm going to have to look at.

Cheers,
Damien.

Thanks Mike. I'll try to tweak the colour balance a bit and see if I can improve things.

Nice shot Paul. I found this to be a tough pairing myself. You might have too much red/green, but it would be only a slight adjustment.

Thanks Paul and Rick. I've upped the blue a smidge on the Astrobin version.

Thats a great pic Paul, nice set in there. Maybe not enough blue or deliberate yellow bias for the yellow day of infamy?
