Barnard 142_143 'E' Nebula

Objects number 142 and 143 from Barnard's catalog of dark nebula located in the constellation of Aquila. Also known as the 'E' nebula as it looks like an E when presented in this portrait orientation.

Processed from RGB data captured in August. Interestingly I notice a splash of red across the lower half of the image. Might be worth a revisit one day to capture some Ha.

Link to Astrobin post here. Click on image in Astrobin for a large version.

Cheers.

Thanks Marc, and Mike. It is nice to get off the beaten track a little particularly into these dusty areas of the Milky Way.

Your pin-sharp and careful rendition shows that it isn't quite an E, so much as a C with a cedilla that has grown too heavy and broken off.

Such thick impenetrable dust. Very nice star colours too.

Merry Christmas and happy new year from MnT

Thank you Chris, Rick, Andy and MnT. I trust that we all had a jolly Christmas. My response here was delayed by being away to the north coast of NSW and staying in a place that had minimal mobile and internet coverage. The attached image taken of a sign on our accommodation says it all.

Happy new year everyone and clear skies for the upcoming new moon.
