ha pst image from 30-10-2016

I've been practicing doing artificial flats for my pst images(with asi 120mm). I think this ones my best yet. I'm also finding it hard to balance things with regards to sharpening and brightness levels. doing alot of back and forth undo and redo. But maybe that's just how it goes?
I've been trying to get used to Paintshop but constantly find myself going back to using GIMP. perhaps i need to watch some good youtube tutorials to better understand it. I've put one of the waveleted stacks in so you can see where i'm coming from.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

regards

Leigh

Leigh,
I don't think you're going wrong anywhere....
The image definition for the PST is very good.
Keep doing what you're doing.
What are your issues in PaintShop???

Hi Ken,
Thanks for your response. Its hard to know when your starting out whats a reasonable outcome for the equipment your using.
I guess I was hoping the transition to ps would be alot more intuitive than its been so far. With gimp i can manipulate each layer individualy just by clicking and highlighting it in the layers list then for example sharpen or colorize it without effecting any of the other layers. Dont know how to do that in ps yet. I think it'll just be a matter of finding tutorials and writing down the process untill i get proficient.

Leigh,
As you are using a mono camera I assume you are creating layers as you go...
""clicking and highlighting it in the layers list then for example sharpen or colorize it without effecting any of the other layers."
Yes this sounds about the same process as PSP....

Looks good to me Leigh. You have got the hang of artificial flats. Perhaps a slightly different tonal and colour distribution would help in viewing structure. Turn down some of the bright yellow and try to enhance small features in the highlight areas and compress them down to middle tones. Just my 2 cents.
Ted

PS. I just added an example of what I meant within the quality constraints of the site's upload limit.
