What ASCOM driver for QHY5 and PhD Guiding?

Hi,

I'm using a QHY5 for guiding and PhD Guiding with an HEQ5 Pro mount (not the latest hand controller)

What ASCOM driver/platform do I need to install - can't find one that relates specifically to the HEQ5 Pro mount...?

thanks guys

niko

Look into EQMOD. You need the Ascom platform and EQAscom. There is a more recent and "better" EQMOD version available from the EQMOD Yahoo Group rather than the download section of the EQMOD page above. I'd recommend joining that Yahoo Group while you have lots of questions.

Why use Ascom ?, just install the basic drivers, and connect the guider cable.

thanks guys

Theo - when I tried to use PhD Guiding it wouldn't coonect to the mount (St-4 cable from camera to mount) because it said I was missing the ASCOM platform which is why I asked the question.

Or am I missing something in the way this all operates...?

cheers

niko

I ended up downloading ASCOM platform and the Celestron drivers but haven't had a chance to re-check

You can setup PHD for "On Camera" connection for the port, and this is probably your issue. Ascom is not needed to control the camera.

Look under the "Mount" drop down list"

Check the settings in PHD.
