I am about to start setting up for Autoguiding.
I have sourced a DSI camera but I may need a few other items to connect it up.
Do I have to use a Shoestring GPUSB or is there a way to connect through my hand controller?
You will need the GPUSB as well, this connects your computer directly to the guideport on the side of your mount.
Camera takes pictures into guiding software, guiding software makes calculations and issues guide commands to through GPUSB to mount, mount makes movement corrections. Then the process starts again
Tony,
You can connect the guide camera to the PC and use software like PHD to generate corrections....you then need to get these signals back to the mount.
You can use a GPUSB cable (with a serial to USB adaptor -I recommend the KEYSPAN) to connect to the ST-4 guide port on the mount.
The other method is to use ASCOM/ EQMOD connections to pulse guide via either the handcontroller ( the upgrade cable you got with the mount) or by a EQDIR usb cable.
(Some of the guide cameras - not the DSI - have a ST-4 port built in and just need a ST-4 cable to connect to the mount)
