NGC4945 Galaxy

Interesting Galaxy out in Centaurus with the advantage of being pretty much available for imaging most of the night.

First time out with the CFF at a dark location (and probably the first galaxy image I have tried since the scope arrived what with one thing or another) and it certainly makes a difference.

Processed in PI. Have had a couple of attempts processing this and in this version I pulled right back on saturation leaving the work to PCC and the white reference option Sb which matches the galaxy type. The star colour seems fine so have left as is

Fine result Dave on a perennial favourite, that is as you say, well placed to image at the moment, smooth and glassy too

That is a great galaxy image David. I concur with the benefits from imaging an object that is well placed for most of the night. Helps to get a good result in a reasonable time.

That turned out nicely. A CFF RC, nice! I have a CFF 105 F6 APO and its spectacular.

CFF are the new Astrophysics!

You've captured it well David, the galaxy is showing some nice detail and the stars look great!

Perfect: Stars round and pinpoint so focus and tracking perfect. All the favourite background galaxies are there, so very deep. And no annoying reflections from the super-bright blue stars at edge of field.

There are just so many stars here, right in the middle of the Milky Way.

Thanks Mike. Biggest aperture I have used at the dark site and surprised at how much stuff there is out there. Blue stars a bit problematic but they are what they are. I did a crop version at one point. Pleased with the setup as it didn’t miss a beat over several nights.

Thanks Greg. Am enjoying using this scope. Easy to collimate and very solid in terms of performance.

Thanks very much Gents. Mike, I have to admit to doing a teeny weeny bit of decon as the seeing was hit and miss on one night but held it back. I rarely use it and when I do I normally hit the undo button fairly quickly.
