NGC1365 Spiral Galaxy

NGC1365 on the RHS is a barred spiral galaxy 55M lyrs away in Fornax constellation.

The three galaxies on the LHS are the start of the Fornax cluster which would extend a full frame to the left.

I've included a crop of NGC1365, there is supposed to be supernova in there but I can't see it.

I couldn't seem to get any contrast with these guys even with 5+ hours of exposure, might because of light pollution from Brisbane washing out the scene.

Looking pretty good Bill. Light pollution will definitely work against you with contrast on dim objects

I think you are demonstrating quite nicely that 8" and 1000mm FL is more than capable for imaging galaxies

Looks good, Bill. Conditions are less than ideal but the results are impressive.

Thanks everyone.
These could be my last images with the 8 inch, as I have a carpenter coming over today with some 16 inch diam scope rings he made for me.
Then I should be imaging with the 14 inch newt.

Bill,
Good image, well done.
I couldn't find any reference to a current SN in NGC 1365
http://www.rochesterastronomy.org/supernova.html
but I did find an image of the SN 2012 in this galaxy....

Thanks for the kind words, Russell.

I have a 14in Skywatcher DOB which I am getting scope rings made up for it to mount onto my Mesu200 mount. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed it all works out OK.
