Saturn 22nd December Brisbane - no joy Lovejoy :(

I set the alarm for 3am and awoke to rain. Woke up again at 4am and the sky was clearing somewhat but no sign visially of Comet Lovejoy with binoculars. Got me a Saturn instead. Canon EOS 600D, 5x Powermate, 12" Sky-Watcher Dobsonian. 2000 frames at 30fps, ISO 1600, 1/30th sec exposures.

Nice Saturn, Tom. Hope you can see the comet soon as it is easy to see with clear skies to the south east. You will not need binoculars as the tail it too long and easily visible to the naked eye.

All the best.

Yes Tom that would have been a bit late to catch it. I was up at 4:30 and will try at 3:30 tomorrow, to get it before the horizon brightens too much. All the best.

Nice Saturn Tom.

This comet is too big for bino's!!
Let's hope we have better luck with the weather tomorrow morning.
I'm waking at 2am this time, and if the sky and WZ says all clear, I'm heading down to Bribie Island to capture it.

I'll get up for another look tomorrow morning. And here is a downsized Saturn:
