Surprisingly Interesting

So, my daughter went to a school excursion to Sydney Observatory last night (yes, Dad was jealous...but that's another story...) and looked at Saturn through a Meade LX200 GPS scope...so I SMS'd her about if it was a better view than through my 8" Dob...her reply was, "um....it's not even better"...this was quite a surprise to me...go my little Dob!

Nice!
Last time I was there I had a look at Jupiter through the 40cm SCT and my first thought was that it looked better through my TSA120. I'd only just looked at Jupiter a couple of nights before through the Tak, and in the city too, so it was a comparable view. Jupiter was certainly bigger but had much more contrast and I think more detail through my scope

I guess there were a few other people looking before me and one of them may have pushed it slightly out of focus...
