Why?

Ok everyone, why does my "Mobile Observatory" app (which, I must say, is an awesome help!) say that Saturn is at it's best viewing of the year on Friday evening? Just curious as it's obviously no where near opposition; are it's residents leaving all their lights on ?

The Astronomy 2014 handbook says it is at its eastern quadrature and the planet will have a most prominent ring shadow across its surface. Quadrature is when a planet makes a 90 angle with the Earth and Sun.
