Those 40+ hrs are now possible thanks to the backyard observatory. I can go out each night and grab a few hours before bedtime (and still almost get enough sleep for work the next day
).
I'm having troubles trying to work out the mosaic though, because I do not think I did enough sets in each orientation to enable each panel to be drizzled. This core area worked (mostly) because it's drizzle data from everything that overlaps for the registered base image.
I suspect that I'll only end up with a slightly larger area in the final mosaic than what's shown here. However, next year I might be able to get more data to add to it (I've run out of time and sky for it now to get all the extra data I really need).
