A few nights by the Lagoon

June has been pretty good to me, so I spent a few nights around last new moon chasing the Lagoon Nebula.

I ended up with about 20 hours of capture time over several nights! Very happy with the end results, forum image size restrictions really doesn't do it justice.

Taken using a Pentax K-1 on an Orion ED80T from my suburban Brisbane backyard.

Very nice! Definitely thumbs up! Extra points for the patience for such a long integration (although the law of diminishing returns suggests you could have stopped before 20 hours ).

Yeah, probably went a little overkill, even from my light polluted location. It ended up being a couple of really good nights, so there were not many captures to reject. Half the amount would have likely been just as good (and that would represent two nights of work), but hey, having too much integration time is a good problem to have

The full sized version is that much nicer - I am pretty pleased with the results. It comes in at a little over the size limit for the forum though

Wow, nice image! 20 hours! The only thing is the core looks a little grey to me. Otherwise very fine image.
