I have attached a screenshot of my guide graph taken tonight. In about 2 hours the guiding has moved between 0.63" and 0.73" total error. I know that that result would not be considered great but is the best I have achieved for a long time and with my setup it is pretty good. Anyway the stars are nicely round in my subs at the end of the day that is what counts!!
Based on how similar RA and Dec are, I'd be guessing that you're probably guiding about as well as seeing conditions allow. Can't ask or much more than that!
You might want to dial up the y: scale to, say, +/- 2"...it may look a little more scary but it doesn't change the RMS
PS what's the focal length of your guide scope?
Thanks Dunk. I find having the y: scale at that setting it shows what I need to see. I did set it to 2" once and found if one of the lines went a bit far I had to dial it back to 8" to see it was recovering and not to panic. The guide scope is 400mm (Orion bog standard ST80) I am imaging at 714mm with this setup and a focal ratio of f7. I have read that you should try to match the guide fl to the imaging fl, but have not really understood why?
