First narrow band no photo yet.

Last night was excellent.
I took until 11-30 sorting stuff out.
But I finally got it all working and was able to sit at the lappy pick the object and slew to it from the sky chart although it needs fine tuning I am just so happy that it was so close without a star align or changing the long and lat settings which did not occur to me until after I located my first target.Luck was with me☺
I found the focusing assistant tool quiet good.
I chose M8 as I can compare my results with the nikon effort.
I managed only 30 second captures as I think I knocked polar align out having spent time getting it right with polemaster.
But I took 15 in each of the filters so hopefully I have something to play with.
When I came in I could not find the images at first but I was happy because it worked better than I expected.
Anyway found them but wont be able to do much with them as the lappy takes so long.
Again thanks to everyone who has helped me on this mission as I could not have done it without your support.
Alex

PHD was working but not very well which could have been balance.
Anyways looking at the 30 second stuff surprised me as all filters produced stuff.
Something went crazy with the gain slider as it disappeared as did the exposure slider???

You need to use platesolving with SGP/NINA - absolute lifesaver!!!

Hi Logan
I am using sharp cap at the moment but great idea.
I did download NINA and a trial of SGP but sharp cap worked at the time.
I see a lot of things as placeholders until I get the best one.
I think I can find someway to plate solve.
What I would like is a wireless conection between the mount and the lappy.
All good and thanks for your help.

Sooner or later you will solve all issues, i have few issues sorted out, but now the main thing i really would like to learn is plate solving, sounds it will definitely change my astro life or imaging experience, just i have time as i came long way since last year when i got started.

Let me know how it will go with you and how you did it, i feel it is easy to do but just don't know how to do it yet and by how[which software].

Well I have been to the astrotortilla web site and downloaded it all and so I have it on the lappy now.
I have read the directions and it seems straight forward and most useful.
I will know more tonight when I give it a run in the field ( which is actually the front lawn).

Go to the site and have a read and download it.
There are others but I will start with this one and see how it goes.

I downloaded Astrotortilla long time ago, but i just said i still don't know how to use, i think i remember i tried once and i failed, had an issue, and i have to test that in field only and that was in bad timing, very hot and humid, so i didn't waste time to try again, i will give it a try later when the temp is cooling down, pity i will miss most of the summer targets, but i won't be sad, winter targets are nice too.

Don't use astrotortilla if you are using Nina or SGP - use Platesolve2, should be included in the software

I downloaded Astrotortilla because this is what i read a lot when i search about plate solving.

I do use SGPro definitely, just don't know how to use their built in plate solving, hope it will be handy and as good as Astrotortilla, and i don't know what Nina stands for.

Platesolve 2 is infinitely faster and better than astrotortilla

I have Nina and SGP but I am using sharpcap at the moment.
I tried using the plate solve last night but gave up as I was adjusting and getting lots of other stuff and I was so tired that I could not think.
I tried a capture and it said it was capturing for 35 seconds and after that said waiting for camera and after a long wait and nothing apparently happening I switched it off and did other things.
I have managed a few captures but a long way to go.
I would really like to get the plate solve sorted so I will go over the instructions again.

Interesting to read these comments. I use SGP but have found plate solving is better with Astrotorilla so I routinely use that. One thing I have found though is that Astrototilla works really well (and quickly) only if I have the Ha filter selected. I thought the lum filter would be better but not so.

Mmm it probably produces less stars and so with ha less work for the solver☺

I will bear that in mind.

I am having a terrible time tonight.
Last night almost perfect tracking but tonight I have spent over an hour trying to get it to tolerate even a 30 second capture.
I just came in for a break while it does its thing.

For me DSO is still all tests or experimenting and practice, sometimes it goes smooth and nice, and sometimes it is like a big FAIL, and just this year i learnt about guiding and also stars alignment, so i am getting there slowly, but the thing that make me not doing much of DSO is that i keep depending on my ST80, many said it is not bad with NB, but i feel even with NB it is still not nice quality, i feel it lacks a lot of performance in APO, even a cheap APO doublet will do better, so i don't waste more nights out for results i know it won't be so much great.

Now i really need to learn plate solving so i can work on a certain target over and ovewr again, and i need that more than other people because our nights are shorter or quicker than another parts in the world, and because if i waste time in setup then i don't have long hours per night, and the target are moving or crossing the sky really fast, 2 hours and the target of DSO mainly are from one side to another, maybe for less LP to more LP, so the best thing is if i do only 1 hour per night, so i need to get back to same target again and again, Pl.So. will solve that, that if i know how to use it and it works flawlessly.
