Tarantula Nebula

Hi all,

This is my first shot of a deep space object. After much reading, learning how to align to the SCP, calibrate my guide scope with PHD2, how to make SPG behave nicely, get the filter wheel to actually work... pant.. pant... I finally took a few shots.

Gotta say, I did a Dad dance around the house. I was really happy with it.

Details:
30 x LRGB (I wanted to take Ha Oiii and Siii but it was going to rain so had to go short exposure).
50 x bias
50 x darks
50 x LRGB flats

I had terrible LP from my neigbours who are wonderful people, but light up their home, pargola and surrounds like Cape Canaveral at night. I had to work hard to get rid of the LP.

HI Peter
Very nice first image shows a lot of detail needs a bit more colour RGB
which you can do when your processing but still very good for your first image well done.

Well done on your first of many. It's a huge learning curve that never seems to end.

Suggest you take a leaf from Mikes book and and see if you can get the neighbours to agree a cut off time for their lights? Bottle of wine helps?

Cheers
