Thumbs down Internet

Well, after a wait of 2½ months I'll be getting my internet re-established on the 12th of October.

We had a small blackout and my satelite modem decided to turn to custard. After ringing the internet company in Queensland they decided that it would be best to replace all components being the dish, horn and modem and promptly sent the quote for $2100 to which I signed and sent back.

After two weeks I haven't heard from anyone so I ring them up and enquire as to how things are going, whoops we are so sorry we forgot to send the work request to the hardware company in Melbourne.

Another two weeks goes by and I hear nothing so I ring the hardware company and enquire. It turns out that there are no technicians in my area being a rural zone and they are trying to find one to come out to which I politely explain that I am only 40km from the centre of Canberra so it's not really rural.

After another week they inform me that the technician will be coming out on the following Monday, that day arrives and no technician then I get a phone call at 3pm saying he had damaged his car and couldn't make it and they will organise a new date.

After another week of no contact I place another call, this time being slightly grumpy about the whole thing and it turns out that he has to travel 3 hours from somewhere to my place and it seems that he doesn't want to come out until he has more jobs in the area.

I then politely point that this isn't my problem and that the next phone call they receive will probably be from the Ombudsman

Low and behold, I get another phone call from the company in about 20 minutes saying that another technician from Sydney will be coming down to do it on the 12th.

So in 10 days I'll be back online, to say it frustrating is an understatement. I've only been able to use work internet which is sporadic in what they let you access.

Anyway rant over, I hope everyone is well here.

Cheers

That really is frustrating Ric.
I hope your insurance will cover the cost.

Wow, tough to get service in that "rural" part of Australia hey?!

I hit panic mode without internet for 24 hours!

Yay Finally back on line again.

Turns out it was just the modem that had turned to custard so it's going to be a lot cheaper than first quoted.

I'm not happy with the level of service that I received that for sure so I sent an email to the company detailing my displeasure with them and requested that they could offer a discount for the time it took.

I wont be holding my breath waiting for a reply no doubt .

Cheers
