Skywatcher 80mm f/5 achro - outside diameter, please

Hi folks,

I have a GSO refractor focuser that is for an inside diameter tube of 86mm. It came off an 80mm scope, but its objective lens is a very poor one. If I can I'd like to salvage the focuser, putting it onto a better quality Skywatcher achro.

So I would like to know the outside diameter of a Skywatcher 80mm fl400 instrument, please - this way you don't need to remove the focuser to measure the inside diameter.

Many thanks,

Mental.

Alex,
My 80 f7 achro uses an 86mm focuser if that helps, not the same scope I know....close though.
The 102mm f5 achro uses the 96mm flange.

What's so bad about the lens? Is it used? Maybe someone has taken the objective apart and put it back together back to front...sort of thing I used to do as a kid

The lens gives a hazy image, and focus is a little soft. Image is so poor that even in monochrome that is solar H.alpha in my Quark, the image is both hazy and soft. Not a piece of glass I will be passing on to anyone, only the bin.

I did have an 80mm f/5 scope that used a lens from Surplus Shed. Now that WAS a good lens for a modest achromat. Had a 2" focuser too. I sold that little scope long before I got the Quark. Would have been a match made in heaven... Now I'm looking for another...
