The only advice I can give is NEVER EVER MOVE TO MELBOURNE

Matt in Jindabyne was that a winter time thing...kids on the roof?

I loved Melbourne when I went there for a holiday! The weather here in Perth right now is not that great for spending time outside, although Sunday may be ok!

Now you're reminding me of my childhood in Finland, 2 metres of snow on the ground, 2 storey house, frozen roof with ladder access, a night at -25C watching the Aurora Borealis doing its dance for hours, then sliding down the roof into the snow.

Sus, looks like you are well on the way into astronomy becoming a passion, look forward to seeing your photographs of the heavens in the future.

That sounds a bit chilly! I come from the NE of England but have been here in Oz over 10yrs now. I miss the snow and was hoping to make it home this year but no...never mind means I can spend lots more time looking at the stars.
