SBS Tonight
A heads up for anyone with time to watch TV tonight. At 8:35pm a doco on the August Solar Eclipse in the USA and 9:35 a doco on the Spirit and Opportunity Mars Rovers. Both on SBS 1, both should be most interesting.

They certainly were Mike. A lot of "OH SHUTE" moments with the shutes going to Mars..not to mention the Rovers getting stuck in a quick sand like surface.
Merry Xmas all.. bigjoe.

Thanks for the heads up Jeff,
Only saw the doco on the Spirit and Opportunity Mars Rovers, one of the best!
All that detail, awesome.
Cheers,
Damien.

Both were excellent documentaries, the stuff about nano flares causing the high temperatures in the solar corona was something I hadn't heard before, most interesting now that I do more solar observing with the PST modded scope.
SBS have shown quite a few astro / space documentaries in the past year, hope they keep up the good work, more is never enough.

Yes Jeff and esp this mans work on Engineering on Rovers ..Former aspiring Rockstar and personality Adam Steltzner.
His book, The Right Kind of Crazy capturing their struggles to Mars. Not bad for someone who failed high school geometry twice and was told he'd "amount to no more than a ditch digger".

Yep.
Thanks Jeff.
Watched them both & was stunned by the images from Mars
& what causes the Corona to be so darn hot.
Pity that you have to create another Account & log in to see any that you may have missed
or the program not running the "advertized times" & missing the last 5 Minutes.
I really don't need another set of P/W's & U/Names.
Got way too many now.
Merry Christmas to y'awll.

My apologies to members of this forum that aren't Australian based and may not be familiar with our TV channels. Would be nice to know that your own local channels telecast some of the same programs that we get to enjoy. Thankfully there have been many excellent space and astronomy related programs on tv this year to brighten otherwise cloudy nights.

Lets not forget with OZ SBS ..You have to be careful if kids are around, and what comes on next sometimes after a fairly innocuous show.
