I'll get the ball rolling on this one with an image taken over seven nights during September/November 2004. Again with the MN61, a HaRGB combination totalling 330 minutes of exposures.

Thanks Houghy. It's an awsome object that's for sure.

I have larger versions on my site if you went to see them.

That's a bewdiful shot Eddie, just lovely. The image is not that much different from the eyepiece view I saw at the SPSP, through Mike Kerr's 25" dob. It's truly a stunning object and your image certainly does it justice.

Thanks for posting it!

Thanks Mike, I'd love to be able to image through a quality 20"+ scope some day. Until then I'll just have to do hours and hours of exposures.

Thanks Paul. Like most technical pursuits there's a lot to learn and it can't be rushed, but well worth the effort

Thanks Ving. There's a lot to be said for crappy monitors. A bit of blurring can do wonders for noise reduction

Here's my (poor) attempt at Thor's helmet-canon 300d, 8 inch newt

I took 27 minutes of images but had to discard 9 minutes because IRIS for some reason wouldnt stack

Each image had to be curtailed to 3 minutes because of sky glow problems-the object was really too low in the sky

The blue nebulosity is consistent with other images of this object on the net-it seems H alpha is what brings out the superb detail that eddie has posted.

Anyway I had a go, that's about all that can be said. This is one tough target.

I stacked the images using IRIS for the first time, so a bit of learning there
