The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 10:55 pm, very dangerous thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Sydney Airport and Maroubra. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north. Very dangerous thunderstorms are forecast to affect Sydney City, Sydney Olympic Park and the Sydney Harbour Bridge by 11:25 pm and Parramatta, Ryde and waters off Bondi Beach by 11:55 pm.
Destructive winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding are likely.
Wattamolla recorded a wind gust of 161 km/h (87 knots) at 9:02pm.
Kurnell recorded a wind gust of 115 km/h (62 knots) at 8:52pm.
Sydney Airport recorded a wind gust of 98 km/h (53 knots) at 9:17pm.
San Souci recorded 59mm in 1 hour between 8pm and 9pm.
Strathfield Golf Club recorded 50mm in 1 hour between 9 and 10pm.
