EdgeHD 8" SCT, ASIAIR and EAF - use 'reverse'

Hi Folks. Question for EdgeHD 8" owners who use an ASIAIR and EAF; do you use the 'reverse' option for focusing? Alex

I don't have an EdgeHD 8 but when I used an AsiAir on my C8 fitted with EAF I had reverse selected.

With reverse selected the final focus moves of the EAF were counter clockwise so the mirror was pushed up against gravity.

A tad confused by Chris’s previous post, as I’ve found the opposite. To be sure I just went outside and observed the eaf doing an autofocus on my c14… I do NOT have the reverse option checked.

On engaging autofocus, first movement is clockwise, followed by anticlockwise and then incremental anticlockwise movements to build the v curve. Then clockwise and finally anticlockwise again to find focus point. Sooo, as the final movement is anticlockwise I would suggest that this is the correct setting.

I moved to NINA a while ago and can't double check my Asiair setup, but Dave882 is likely to be correct. I was sure I had the reverse set however I've been wrong before, and probably will be again.

Thanks Chris and Dave. This is the reason I asked; there are a lot of conflicting views. Interestingly, I finally had the opp to check my 8" EdgeHD tonight and actually *needed* reverse enabled to get the final movement of the focus travelling CCW ... go figure. And I'm loath to play with it anymore tonight as my EdgeHD is guiding beautifully atm and the focus is spot on and holding yay! I will however look again tomorrow night to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Alex
