Reheating the cold chicken

Well, I am finally back at it again, thanks to a new rig (but same mount) and finally decent weather.

This is just 30 minutes of H-a (7nm Baader)

FSQ-106ED at f/5 on the trusty Vixen GPD2 - The Little Mount that CAN and DOES

SBIG ST-8300C (YES, OSC with H-a filter)

10 minute exposures, PHD2 guiding ('cause MaxIm went nuts), 3 exposures total. Got another hour to go hopefully before it sets too low tonight.

So, here it be, uncleaned, practically unprocessed except for a stretch in CCDStack post stacking. Focus might be a smidgen off, but it is focused by hand with an f/8 Bahtinov (). Might afford Sharpsky soon...

This is typed outside next to the rig while it continues imaging the chook.

This shrunken jpeg is all ya get till I at least get 3 hours on this bloody chicken! And look at that - the whole enchilada fits in the frame. Ah, f/5... wonder how it'd look t f/3.65...

Oh, and Greg, that is with my converted finder-guidescope (f/4). I tried the OAG but it won't co-operate. Might persevere with the OAG, but probably resell it considering the guidescope works well.

Ha-OSC it shall be. I SHOULD have gone OSC before moonrise, but the OAG shenanigans put an end to that.

Tomorrow hopefully OSC colour

Okay cool. Cloudy tomorrow and for the next few days for you and me. Then clear next week with a cold blast.

Now 90 minutes. It is all I got tonight before my power supply went fizzle (there's $140 down the crapper)

Its looking pretty smooth already. Bummer about the power supply. What were you using? I got a 12 volt power supply from Jaycar Electronics for the dew heater and it seems pretty good. It cost something like that.

Greg.

Was using what I have been using for 3 years - a battery pack. There was a low power issue at startup, so I plugged in the charger. I am assuming that the draw with the 3 heater bands on and the mount was too much for the charger coupled to the battery to handle (stupid idea, but I just HAD to image last night. HAD TO!). RA ended up not wanting to cooperate (diagnosis in the Equipment forum).

So, today Jaycar gets a visit - either going for a lab power supply or a good quality AC converter.

Not a bad result for NB with OSC, Lewis. Determined to do things the hard way?

Yup. Got to keep weight down, so that rules out mono with filter wheel and big cameras.

I would't call it hard - just take longer. Meh. What's time but a relative concept
