It has been quite exciting observing a 'wanderer' for the first time and 'seeing' the Solar System in motion.

At around this time or before, I tell people to get a sheet of paper and plot the position's of brighter stars in the sky and also Mars.
Go out every few days and put in the current position of Mars and continue doing this for the following month or so, you can then see the motion of Mars across the sky.
A very interesting exercise.
