It's consoling to observe your desire to help your fellow man.
I propose Matt should consider selling the TOA-130 and purchasing a walking stick telescope. Selling the TOA to a younger home would surely afford a nice example.
Probably want to add some suspension to that trailer and some near off-road capabilities for navigating your property
It's OK - Phil promised to have grading and full bitumen paving up to the observatory prior to Tak Attack 2017 (which, just like the bitumen, does not seem to be eventuating this year)
OK when/who will pony up details of stainless steel L brackets for this mod ? Or is it aluminium only with wire brush finish ?
I'll bite for those and a handle from a red-gum stump. Carbon-fibre is not my style.
Imitation and flattery ...
My version in stainless (non-dairy industry), fiddle back oak and brass...will show it when done
It is a slippery slope to OCD you embark on if you follow my example....
The new handle looked so pretty sitting there on top of the scope that the black dovetail plate cried for some attention as well, so out with the file, wet&dry and AutoSol again.....
The dovetail can now rest easy knowing it is not the poor cousin anymore...
Here you go Wavy - a shot of my spares in case I goofed, with the brass screws for the wood and the stainless M6 screws for the rings. I use vixen 115 rings on my Tak (114mm OTA with thicker felt) which have a single screw hole on the top.
I may still drill right through my dowel and use a threaded rod for strength, but will see how just the brass screws go. My OTA is very light, so SHOULDN'T be an issue.
I MAY hammertone blue my brackets...undecided. My rings are blue to match the FS cell, so might look better hammertone blue or gloss blue like I did the rings...

There's going to be so much stray light reflected off all those shiny bits any dark sites going to be lit up like a xmas tree

Not if I steal the batteries from your headlamp besides, with the TOA looking so nice now, I am thinking of leaving it at home and using one of your scopes...
Don't get me started on Phil's lack of Red Light etiquette... SO many times I have been completely blinded by that damned headlamp...that damned thing is bright enough to bring down the aircraft overflying for Sydney...

Lighthouse Phil...
If you guys were focussing on your scopes and not getting up all close and personal and staring dreamily into my eyes ....the light wouldn't blind you
Dreamily...it's like deer in headlights - we get dazzled!
I'm gonna mount you on your EM400 and set it to slew through 360° so you can be the lighthouse you are. We'll just change your elevation to 90° and away you go.
