Comet Lovejoy, Leonis Minoris meteor shower
Hi all, gotta love how busy the sky's been lately! I'm new to this astro stuff and the forums and this is my first post, so thought I'd say hello and share a snap I took on the cloudless Boxing Day
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7152/6...b30bd089_o.jpg
and for those of you who don't fancy cluttered star trails, I'm also putting up a short video timelapse attempt.

Hope you like it!
Cheers

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and being so generous with the compliments! I was quite happy with the results too. Looking forward to this cloud cover pushing over and for the rain to press the dust back into the ground, and maybe glimpsing and snapping some Quadrantids if the conditions are right!

Thanks again everyone! The comments and compliments are muchly appreciated! Here's a new snap from this morning. Intermittent cloud cover, but otherwise wonderful conditions to be out. The SE Qld sky's supposed to improve by Wednesday..

ps. Also, I was just wondering- what are the conventions around here re posting new images? Do people generally keep adding to a single thread or start new threads? If it's the former, maybe I need to rename the thread..

Great pics and video. Can clearly see the meteors coming through. How rare is that, a comet and meteor shower together
