Kyoei Sangyo Co. Japan.

Does anyone have any experience or opinions of this Japanese optics retailer?

I heard about it on an old thread on cloudy nights… I want to purchase a Takahashi FC76DC objective unit for my FS60Q. It’s working out about $500+ cheaper than local, including shipping and my estimate of customs duty and GST. $1450 vs $2000 or 25%.

Cheers

Is this kyoei-tokyo.jp or kyoei-osaka.jp? If so then yes I bought numerous items from them when I was living in Tokyo - my Tak FSQ85ED, Vixen AXD, etc. There's a chap called Sakabe-san who'd deal with international purchases.

But I've not heard of Kyoei being referred to as Kyoei Sangyo I'm not certain if we're talking about the same business.

Kyoei Sangyo is the official name. The retail stores are Kyoei Tokyo and Kyoei Osaka.

Been to both stores and purchased from both of them. Guys there are fantastic!

Thanks everyone,

I also got a pm from a member who vouches for this business. And yes the email replies to my Enquiries have been from Mr Sakabe.

Very reassuring, I will make a purchase.

Cheers

Does this vendor have a minimum order limit? Looking for a Vixen AP Mount Case but another Japanese vendor has a minimum order limit of $500 AUD.

Not sure Hans,

The website has an English translation button. They also respond to emails very promptly.

I just tried that “Translate button” in the advert for the ZWO AM5 and learnt that it is safe for waitresses!

“Equatorial mount equipped with strain wave gear (wave gear device) boasting a loading weight of 13 kg even for waitresses is newly released”

That’s good to know.

I bought some eyepieces through Kyoei in Osaka, you would need to pay 5% duty plus 10% GST, but you do not need to pay the 5% value added tax for Japan. Shipping costs are low. They are very good to deal with in terms of communication.

Sakabe-san has a minimum spend of JPY 30,000 for overseas orders.
He freights everything via EMS.
I haven’t been hit with any duties or GST.
